When Maelle was four, she had severe headaches and her eyes began crossing. After a referral to Children’s Hospital Colorado, a benign tumor was found on her optic nerve. Maelle underwent surgery, followed by chemotherapy to prevent tumor growth. Today, she is a healthy little girl who enjoys singing and dancing.
Born six weeks early with a severe heart defect, Eugene was a patient at Children’s Hospital Colorado for much of his first year. After three open-heart surgeries, Eugene went home before his first birthday. Eugene, now five, is a strong, fun-loving boy.
Anissa was born with a cleft lip and palate, and had multiple reconstructive surgeries that began when she was just four months old. She is now a thriving high school student who raises awareness for her condition, and hopes to one day become a surgeon at Children’s Colorado.
